Hardcover Books

This item cannot currently be recycled at Buena Vista County Recycle Center. Plastic Toys

Plastic toys are not recyclable.  Many times, these have a recycle symbol with a number, but this marking is not identifying the toy as recyclable- it is telling you what type of plastic it is made from. These items if still useable should be donated to resale shops or disposed of in your household trash.

Diapers

Diapers or any other material that is used for hygiene purposes do not belong in the recycling.  These need to go into the regular household trash and go the landfill for disposal.

Needles & Syringes

Needles, Syringes, medical waste and other sharps are not recyclable.  These items pose a great risk to our staff and others when disposed of improperly.  Medical waste is NEVER recyclable through curbside pickup or in most recycling programs due to health and safety reasons. Glass

Any color as long as it is see-through. Food and beverage containers only with lids removed. Lids may be placed with recyclables. We do offer a free drop off for recyclables at our facility.

Plastic

Food and beverage containers, soap containers, laundry detergent, etc. Rinsed and lids do not have to be removed. Polystyrene (Styrofoam) #6 plastic is not recyclable even if it has a symbol on it. Cardboard

Yard Waste Hours
